Field Effect is seeking an Accountant to support our fast-growing, global organization. In this role, you will be responsible for processing customer sales orders and subscriptions within our billing and accounting systems, ensuring accuracy across subscriptions, renewals, upgrades, and monthly invoicing.

You’ll play a critical role in supporting revenue operations, financial reporting, and cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Customer Success, and Finance. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, solid accounting fundamentals, and hands-on invoicing experience in a fast-paced environment. As an Accountant, you will:

• Review and accurately enter customer order forms into accounting and billing systems
• Validate order details for completeness and accuracy, including customer information, product and service descriptions, pricing, discounts, taxes, and payment terms
• Process new orders, renewals, upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations in accordance with revenue recognition policies
• Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Billing teams to resolve order-related questions, discrepancies, and clarifications
• Generate and distribute customer invoices, and investigate and reconcile billing discrepancies
• Support the accounts receivable process, including responding to client inquiries related to billing and payments
• Assist with month-end close activities, including reconciling order data with general ledger accounts
• Prepare routine reports on order volume, revenue backlog, subscription activity, and billing status
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and customer information
• Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned by the Controller

Skills & Experience We’re Looking for

• Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in accounting or a related field
• 3+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
• Proficiency in accounting software and billing tools common in software companies
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry
• Understanding of accounting principles, deferrals and revenue recognition
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple priorities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Excited to work within a fast-paced tech environment
• Please note that this is a hybrid role that requires on site presence in our Ottawa HQ office couple days per week.

• Experience with MS Dynamics CRM, Business Central, recurring billing platforms
• Familiarity with subscription billing models, recurring revenue, or SaaS metrics
• SaaS / Software industry experience
