The Role

We are looking for a Director of Engineering who is equally passionate about leading teams and writing code. This is a hybrid role — 50% of your time will be hands-on, contributing to billable product development, while the rest will focus on technical leadership, delivery ownership, and growing high-performing teams.

You’ll lead the execution of scalable SaaS solutions and AI-driven innovations, while working closely with stakeholders across Engineering, Product, and Customer Success to drive business outcomes.

Business-Driven Engineering & Strategic Growth

● Collaborate closely with Sales, Product, and Customer Success to influence product roadmap and identify technical solutions that unlock growth.

● Participate in customer discovery, solution architecture, and delivery of enterprise-level integrations.

● Proactively identify new opportunities to improve user experience, reduce friction, and drive adoption at scale.

Hands-On Development (50% Billable)

● Contribute directly to client-facing development and delivery efforts as an individual contributor.

● Build and enhance key features across the platform using FundMore’s modern tech stack:

○ Backend: Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Sequelize

○ Frontend: Angular, NGXS, TypeScript, Handlebars

○ Infrastructure: AWS (Lambda, SQS, SNS, RDS, S3), Serverless Framework, Docker, CloudFormation

● Participate in code reviews, architecture decisions, testing strategies, and deployment pipelines.

AI Engineering & Innovation

● Lead the implementation of AI-powered functionality such as automated underwriting, fraud detection, risk scoring, and document intelligence.

● Collaborate with AI and data science teams to productionize models using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, or ONNX.

● Apply MLOps tools like MLflow, SageMaker, Airflow, or Weights & Biases to manage the full AI lifecycle.

● Architect solutions using LLMs, vector databases, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) tools (e.g., OpenAI, LangChain, Pinecone).

● Champion explainability, ethical AI, and observability throughout model design and deployment.

Leadership & Execution

● Manage and mentor engineers, driving excellence in clean code, modular design, and platform scalability.

● Lead sprint planning, prioritization, and project delivery with a focus on velocity and stakeholder alignment.

● Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent while contributing to a high-performance team culture.

Platform & Infrastructure

● Enhance our cloud-native, event-driven, serverless architecture to meet scale, reliability, and compliance standards.

● Improve performance, monitoring, and security through infrastructure-as-code (IaC), CI/CD automation, and cloud best practices.

● Ensure compliance with SOC 2 Type 2 and other regulatory frameworks for data integrity and access control.

What You Bring

● 8+ years in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or management role.

● Hands-on experience building production-grade SaaS platforms, preferably in fintech, proptech, or compliance-heavy environments.

● Strong skills in Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Sequelize, and Angular.

● Deep familiarity with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices using AWS and Serverless Framework.

● Proven experience delivering AI/ML solutions in production environments with real users and performance requirements.

● Understanding of MLOps pipelines, model governance, and ethical considerations in AI systems.

● A customer-centric mindset and ability to translate business needs into elegant technical solutions.

● Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially when presenting technical decisions to cross-functional teams or enterprise clients.
