Now more than ever, growing local food to build resiliency and security is top of mind in Canada and around the world. Growcer is on the precipice of exponential growth with the power to influence this high-stakes narrative. We are seeking a marketing leader to usher us into this next stage.

Growcer is Canada's largest indoor modular vertical farm solution, working with communities and organizations across North America. To date, we’ve launched more than 100 projects, an innovative fund to lower the capital barrier, and a foundation to further social impact. Coupled with a few more big ambitions, Growcer is ideally positioned to become a household name in the food security space and help Canada build a resilient food system.

We’re looking for a thoughtful, experienced marketing leader who can leverage Growcer's unique assets and weave our story at this crucial inflection point. You will be the owner of Growcer’s next story arc. You will tap into myth and storytelling while bringing your modern marketing expertise. This is a role for someone who wants to carve out a legacy with the backing of a talented team, the freedom to dream big, and the guarantee of leaving a meaningful impact on the world.

Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing will be responsible for owning Growcer's brand and marketing strategies to further establish us as a leader in the local and sustainable food resiliency movement and grow our revenue. Reporting directly to the CEO, we are looking for an experienced marketing leader with a proven track record for scaling up fast-growing companies and establishing them as leaders in their space. This is a high-stakes, high-reward role and we are looking for an individual who resonates deeply with our mission and wants to use their skills and expertise to make a genuinely positive impact on the world.

This is a rare opportunity, and if you are ready to roll up your sleeves and build a legacy in a role where you can align your skills and experience with your values – we want to talk to you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish Growcer as a reference in the food security space in North America.
  • Scale our brand voice and equity, customer acquisition, and revenue.
  • Develop and implement multi-segment lead acquisition and nurturing strategies.
  • Manage marketing initiatives, including social media, paid and earned media, email marketing, creative strategy, and ABM.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales on event strategy and oversee all event-related marketing and sales enablement content.
  • Enhance the marketing tech stack to optimize lead capture, enrichment, nurturing, and conversion.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of agility, resourcefulness, creativity, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to position and launch new products and services.
  • Work with our key partners and develop new relationships to maximize our reach and establish our thought leadership.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our customer's needs and expectations as well as our markets.
  • Own and protect the company voice. Set company-wide messaging expectations and enforce adherence to brand standards.
  • Have full accountability for the Marketing budget and strategy, including supporting the budgeting process, measuring ROI, and advocating for the resources that the Marketing team requires to achieve its goals.
  • Be a key player in leading the entire Growcer business by actively participating in regular management meetings.
  • Be prepared to travel and attend events as required.
  • Be prepared to travel to HQ in Ottawa once per quarter for management meetings, and on occasion, to organize in-person gatherings of your hybrid Marketing team.

About You:

  • You have a proven track record for scaling and establishing one or more companies as leaders in their categories.
  • You understand the modern marketing stack and playbook.
  • You’ve marketed enterprise solutions and/or solutions to large institutions and organizations with multi-stakeholder decision-making experience.
  • You know how to build multi-touchpoint acquisition strategies and support long sales cycles.
  • You have deep expertise in earned media with an existing network in Canada or the US, and potentially beyond.
  • You have the appetite to get your hands dirty, be creative, and achieve big results on limited resources.
  • You’ve shown that your strategy can capture people's imaginations and connect with them on a personal level.
  • You’ve worked either in enterprise software, with large hardware or supply or infrastructure contracts, or in political campaign management, or similar.
