SENIOR ELECTRO-OPTICAL TEST ENGINEER

Hyperlume is a semiconductor company with a mission to transform data center connectivity with the world's fastest and most energy-efficient microLED-based interconnects. With AI models exceeding 1 trillion parameters and training clusters of more than 100,000 GPUs, higher levels of connectivity, driven by higher bandwidth, lower latency and lower energy consumption are needed to reach AI's full potential and solve some of the world's most challenging problems. As the world enters this new era of artificial intelligence, Hyperlume is committed to developing cutting-edge connectivity solutions in months, not years.

Hyperlume is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Electro-Optical Test Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you will design, automate, and execute cutting-edge test methodologies for evaluating and validating high-speed optical communication systems. Your expertise in optical testing, automation, and data analysis will play a pivotal role in driving product performance and reliability for the next-generation of connectivity solutions for AI.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop and implement highly flexible and scalable optical test setups to evaluate LED-based optical links and integrated optical systems.
  • Automate electro-optical test processes by writing and maintaining Python scripts to interface with test equipment, execute test suites, and record measurement data.
  • Perform comprehensive electro-optical testing on photonic components, including LEDs, laser diodes, optical amplifiers, and integrated optical modules.
  • Manage and refine automated data analysis pipelines, using test data and analysis results to provide actionable feedback for product design improvements and validation.
  • Utilize and maintain advanced electro-optical test equipment, such as high-speed arbitrary waveform generators (AWGs), bit error rate testers (BERTs), optical power meters, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, layout, and manufacturing, to ensure test outcomes align with product specifications and performance goals.
  • Document test methodologies, processes, and results to support scalability and reproducibility.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Optics, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in electro-optical testing, with a focus on high-speed photonic components and optical systems.
  • Proficiency in automating test equipment and processes using Python or similar programming languages.
  • Deep understanding of optical testing methodologies, including signal integrity analysis, power measurements, and spectral analysis.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with advanced test equipment, such as AWGs, BERTs, spectrum analyzers, and optical power meters.
  • Strong analytical skills and expertise in data analysis, with the ability to derive insights and actionable feedback from test results.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with LED-based optical communication systems or similar photonic technologies.
  • Familiarity with optical link performance metrics and the integration of photonic components into high-speed systems.
  • Knowledge of optical communication protocols and high-speed interface standards.
  • Prior experience in developing scalable test platforms and managing multi-site test efforts.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines and teams.

HOW WE EVALUATE APPLICATIONS

  • Merit: A proven track record of excellence in electro-optical systems, with hands-on expertise in optical system design and PCB integration.
  • Excellence: A relentless drive to deliver high-quality solutions that redefine industry standards.
  • Intelligence: A deep understanding of optical communication technologies and a hunger for continuous learning and innovation.
