JOB SUMMARY/WHY THIS ROLE:
The Venture Talent Coordinator plays a key role in helping local technology companies grow and succeed by scaling their teams with exceptional talent. This position ensures a seamless delivery of the talent service and an impactful client experience for the 500+ companies in the IO Venture Path as they recruit and hire their growing teams.
We’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of recruitment, relationship-building, operational execution and ecosystem engagement. In this role, you’ll contribute to the internal operations of executive search initiatives, manage our client job board, and strengthen Ottawa’s innovation talent network.
If you’re energized by startups, passionate about connecting talent to opportunity, and want exposure to executive hiring and venture growth, this role offers a hands-on opportunity to drive meaningful impact within Ottawa’s tech ecosystem.
This is a 6-month contract position. Subject to evolving business needs, there is a possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent role.
- Corporate Pay Band B: $49, 600 - $74, 400 ($25.44 - $38.15/Hour)
- Hiring Salary Range: $31-$33/hour
- Reason for opening: New position
- Projected Start Date: April 2026
- This position will be required to work onsite at Bayview Yards, minimum 10 days per month.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Support High-Growth Venture Clients
- Partner with the Venture Talent Manager and Venture team to deliver tailored talent services to scaling tech companies
- Develop talent acquisition resource guides to improve client hiring success
- Ensure a seamless, high-impact experience for client companies
Strengthen Executive & Talent Networks
- Coordinate administration of the TechExec executive matching service, including managing candidate databases and recommending executive profiles
- Conduct targeted LinkedIn outreach to grow Invest Ottawa’s executive talent network
- Build relationships with founders, talent leaders, post-secondary institutions, and ecosystem partners
Power Key Talent Programs
- Administrate the Tech Job Finder job board, ensuring postings and company profiles are accurate and optimized
- Support planning and execution of Venture Talent events and ecosystem initiatives
- Contribute content to the Capital Talent newsletter
- Lead data collection and reporting for job board activity and talent metrics
- Coordinate KPI tracking, trend analysis, and reporting materials
WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/ GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER:
- 2+ years in recruitment, talent acquisition, HR, or a related field
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Understanding of the challenges facing hiring teams - especially in tech and/or start-ups
- Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter and outbound candidate engagement
- Keen interest in leveraging AI tools to enhance recruiting and operational workflows
- Familiarity with CRM or ATS platforms (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics)
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- A client-first mindset with a commitment to service excellence
- Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
