The Senior Systems Business Analyst is a technically deep, hands-on leader responsible for analyzing, designing, implementing, and continuously improving the business systems and digital workflows that power Invest Ottawa's operations. This role bridges business strategy and technical execution, translating complex organizational requirements into practical, scalable system solutions across Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM, Power Platform, SharePoint, and related enterprise tools. Beyond individual delivery, this position provides direct mentorship and technical leadership to junior / intermediate Business Systems Analysts, setting the standard for analysis quality, solution design, and delivery practice. The Senior BSA is the escalation point for technically complex problems the broader team cannot resolve independently and plays a central role in shaping how technology enables Invest Ottawa's mission .Reporting to the Director, IT, Systems & Security, this role operates with a high degree of autonomy, brings sound judgment on build, configure, automate decisions, and actively contributes to Invest Ottawa’s strategy and Initiatives.

    WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

    • Partner with the Innovation & AI Senior Project Manager and IT leadership to translate business requirements into detailed system specifications, workflow designs, and scalable technical solutions.
    • Lead workshops, discovery sessions, and stakeholder engagement activities to align on priorities, requirements, and solution direction, ensuring smooth cross-departmental adoption of system changes.
    • Own end-to-end delivery of system initiatives, acting as senior lead from requirements through deployment, ensuring solutions are well-scoped, technically sound, and aligned with organizational priorities.
    • Serve as the technical lead and escalation point for complex system issues, diagnosing root causes across workflows, data, and integrations, and implementing durable solutions.
    • Design, build, and maintain solutions within Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and Power Platform, including custom entities, workflows, dashboards, Power Automate flows, Power Apps, and JavaScript-based enhancements.
    • Debug and optimize complex automations and integrations, evaluating system changes for risk, dependencies, and cross-functional impact, and applying change management best practices.
    • Establish and enforce standards for documentation, testing, and delivery, while developing and maintaining system documentation, knowledge bases, and user-facing materials to support long-term sustainability
    • Contribute actively to IT and Systems strategy discussions, providing recommendations on system architecture, platform direction, automation opportunities, AI-enabled tooling, and championing best practices in process automation, data governance, and platform configuration.
    • Build trusted relationships with business unit leads, department heads, consultants, and external partners, supporting system integrations, API connections, and data exchange requirements
    • Mentor and coach junior / intermediate analysts, providing technical guidance and setting the standard for analysis quality, solution design, and continuous improvement.
    • Build and manage relationships with internal stakeholders, leadership, consultants, and external partners, supporting integrations, API connections, and data exchange requirements.
    • Develop dashboards and reporting within existing platforms (SharePoint, Dynamics 365), ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and usability, while providing training and support to enable effective system use and self-serve analytics.

    WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER :

      • Minimum 7 years of experience in business systems analysis, solutions design, or a technically deep implementation role.
      • Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM — including configuration, customization, workflow design, and troubleshooting.
      • Demonstrated experience building Power Automate flows across complex, multi-system automation scenarios.
      • Experience in Power Apps for building internal tools, intake forms, and operational interfaces.
      • Experience with JavaScript for Dynamics 365 client-side scripting and web resource development.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues at a structural level and design durable solutions.
      • Proven ability to lead delivery of system improvement projects from requirements through go-live, with accountability for outcomes.
      • Excellent communication skills and able to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders and technical teams alike.
      • Familiarity with AI-enabled workflow tools and practical experience applying Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, AI Builder, or similar capabilities in an organizational context is an asset
      • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration functions including user and identity management, OAuth and service principals, information classification labels, and data loss prevention policies — particularly in support of governance, onboarding/offboarding, and security alignment with the IT team.
      • Experience with SharePoint site design, content types, information architecture, and permissions management.
      • Exposure to API integrations and connecting third-party systems to the Microsoft ecosystem.
      • Microsoft certifications in Power Platform, Dynamics 365, or related technologies are an asset.
