We’re looking for a Configuration Manager to support technical system design for our Revenue and Operations teams. This role involves defining system resource requirements based on customer inputs, preparing preliminary system designs, and validating hardware configurations. It also entails more traditional configuration management responsibilities including preparing and optimizing system configurations for customer implementations. The Configuration Manager will join a team focused on collectively improving configuration processes and tooling. This position collaborates with the Sales, Operations, Product Management, and Engineering teams to ensure technical configuration integrity.

Key Responsibilities

System Configuration & Quoting

  • Prepare system configuration based on inputs from Sales, including mapping of resource requirements to recommended hardware and third-party software.
  • Generate draft quotes or review and validate quotes prepared directly by Sales.
  • Assist in customer asset review and support plan quoting as required.
  • Work consultatively with Sales team to design systems that balance customer requirements with customer budget.

Configuration Management

    • Validate impact of system resourcing changes and support maintenance of configuration tools & templates.
    • Confirm newly qualified hardware is suitable for integration into the overall system architecture and pricing guidelines.
    • Perform, maintain, and improve configuration management policies, procedures, and standards for software and hardware components.
    • Establish and maintain system baselines to enable rapid turnaround of budgetary/preliminary quotes through re-usable content.
    • Maintain configuration data integrity within internal systems and document repositories.
    • Collaborate with Software Engineering, Systems (hardware) Engineering, Production, Sales Engineering, and Revenue teams to ensure consistent and accurate configurations.
    • Remain current on new technologies, and stay informed about internal and external hardware or software changes.

    Build & Release Management

      • Play a key role in the system build process by preparing final configurations for customer systems.
      • Maintain reproducible build processes, including cross-platform and embedded systems.
      • Participate in release process, confirming required artifacts are available and validated for major and minor software releases.

      Change Control

      • Facilitate and support Change Control Boards (CCBs) or equivalent processes.
      • Assess and document the impacts of proposed changes on system configurations, cost structures, and release readiness.
      • Ensure timely and accurate implementation of approved changes.

      Documentation & Traceability

      • Maintain configuration records, release notes, change logs, and system documentation.
      • Ensure end-to-end traceability between requirements, versions, test results, deployments, and cost implications.
      • Support audits and compliance reporting as required.

      System Design support

      • Assist technical support and build teams with after-sales support including but not limited to design guidance, customer requirements, and system changes or adjustments.

      Required Qualifications

      • Technologist Diploma, Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience in an enterprise technical field.
      • 3+ years of experience in configuration management for software and/or integrated hardware/software systems or related technical roles.
      • Exposure to or experience with building and deploying on-prem or cloud based virtual machine environments, including but not limited to: system power distribution, storage architecture, backup solutions, and virtualization techniques.
      • Exposure to or experience with Windows Server, and Linux Operating systems
      • Exposure to or experience with Storage architectures (SAN, NAS, DAS, Ceph etc.)
      • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work cross-functionally.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Microsoft licensing knowledge considered an asset.
      • Familiarity with BOM structures, hardware costing, and basic financial modeling.
      • Experience with version control and build systems (e.g., Git, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Excel).
      • Familiarity with ERP systems

      How We Work

      As a Configuration Manager, you will be expected to work in a remote/hybrid environment reporting to our Kanata, Ontario location 2 or more times per week.
