Director of Sales And Business Development

KnowledgeNow is seeking a Director of Sales and Business Development to lead sales and business development efforts for our comprehensive learning design and development services targeting corporate L&D departments, professional associations, higher education, and regulated industries across North America. The candidate will work with our highly specialized leaders in the rapidly evolving eLearning sector with significant expansion potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a targeted sales strategy, overseeing implementation, monitoring, control, and follow-up of learning design solutions.
- Establish contact and build rapport with decision-makers to understand training challenges and creating compelling business cases for KN services.
- Navigate diverse procurement policies and procedures.
- Introduce KN's service offerings creatively to L&D professionals, training managers, and organizational executives, including custom course development, content audits, accessibility consulting, and training modernization projects.
- Plan and supervise sales initiatives, monitoring progress, reporting results, following up systematically, and closing service contracts ranging from $20,000 to $1,000,000+.
- Generate timely quotes and proposals for enterprise clients.
- Negotiate custom solutions as needed
Required Skill Set
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in small collaborative teams and thrive with minimal guidance, proactively addressing challenges and market opportunities.
- Proficiency in building strong relationships at various organizational levels.
- Extensive experience in startup services sales and business development within the corporate training, instructional design, or educational consulting sectors.
- Critical thinking skills, enabling effective problem-solving and quick adaptation to evolving learning industry trends and client training needs.
- Strong analytical skills, capable of deriving insights from client requirements and developing clear service proposals for different industry verticals and training challenges.
- Enthusiastic and tenacious approach to consultative sales with focus on long-term service partnerships over transactional interactions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in articulating complex instructional design concepts, accessibility benefits, and learning ROI (French proficiency is an asset).
- Outstanding organizational skills, capable of managing complex service sales cycles, multiple client relationships, and systematic follow-up processes.
- Effective time management, with capacity to prioritize high-value service opportunities and delegate efficiently within collaborative team structure.
