We are excited to add an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance Specialist to our team to produce scalable software solutions, tools and analyses that support AI governance. In this role, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team responsible for the development and deployment of our AI governance software and platform solutions.
This is a hands-on opportunity in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment, where attention to detail and meeting deadlines are critical.
Position Overview:
The AI Governance Specialist will shape and advance NuEnergy.ai’s approach to AI policy, standards, and risk oversight. This role is ideal for a scholar-practitioner who bridges academic credibility with real-world application — someone ready to help organizations move from principles to practice. You will collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams, influence policy-makers, and contribute to the evolution of governance frameworks that build trust in AI systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Thought Leadership: Contribute to and lead the evolution of NuEnergy.ai’s governance frameworks, aligned with global standards and regulatory developments
- Research Integration: Guide internal research efforts and partner with academic institutions to ensure applied governance methodologies are grounded in peer-reviewed evidence.
- Policy & Standards Engagement: Support and represent NuEnergy.ai in national and global forums related to AI governance, public policy, and digital rights.
- Client & Partner Advisory: Provide high-level expertise to clients in government, healthcare, education, and industry, ensuring implementation of ethical and regulatory AI practices.
- Publications & Knowledge Sharing: Publish insights and white papers; present at conferences; and contribute to internal education efforts and public briefings.
Required Qualifications:
PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Public Policy, or a related interdisciplinary field
- 5+ years of postdoctoral, policy, or senior advisory experience related to AI governance, responsible tech, or data ethics
- Proven track record in publishing academic or applied work in AI governance, regulation, or algorithmic accountability
- Demonstrated ability to translate theoretical knowledge into practical solutions for diverse stakeholders
- Experience working with or advising governments, regulators, standards bodies, or multinational organizations
- Familiarity with Canadian and international AI governance landscapes
Preferred Qualifications:
● Contributor to existing ethical frameworks, public consultations, or standard-setting initiatives
● Experience supervising or mentoring junior researchers, fellows, or postgrads
