Principal Software Engineer (Full time - Hybird)

Relion is on a mission to advance sustainable transportation and reduce range anxiety for EV drivers. With 43% of charging sessions that are not optimal, painful or unsuccessful in North America, infrastructure availability is hurting the transition to renewable energy. EV chargers are multi-technological products that are complex to maintain, and we believe there is a better way.

By implementing pioneering monitoring solutions coupled with issue management and field dispatch tools, our product aims to bring all stakeholders around the table, foster a culture of excellence in the industry, and ultimately increase EV user’s trust. The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Principal Engineer who wants to go beyond the code - to shape the product, the architecture, and the future of how EV infrastructure is maintained.

You’ll work side-by-side with the CTO and our growing team of product-minded engineers. You'll own key technical decisions, but also influence UX, ops, and feature prioritization. We ship fast (daily to prod), build with empathy, and obsess over solving real-world problems.

• Frontend: TypeScript, Vue 3
• Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Cloudflare, Docker, Linux, Terraform, Ansible
• Observability: OpenTelemetry, Grafana

What You'll Bring to the Table

• 8+ years shipping real software in fast-paced environments
• 5+ years of serious Java development—you understand the JVM like an old friend
• Deep experience in AWS, distributed systems, and scalable infrastructure
• Hands-on with Terraform, Ansible, and other Infrastructure-as-Code tools
• A bias for action, and a knack for balancing speed, quality, and simplicity
• Clear architectural thinking and strong opinions (loosely held)
• You care about user impact, not just uptime

Bonus Points If You Have

• Passionate about sustainability, climate tech, or the EV ecosystem
• Experience in the EV space, especially with protocols like OCPP, OCPI, or ISO 15118
• Deep expertise with modern observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana)
• Experience thriving in a fast-paced startup environment
